Louisa Winthrop is an experienced psychotherapist who has been helping individuals heal and move forward from a variety of life challenges for more than 25 years. She earned her BA in Psychology from Duke University and her MSW from Boston University.
Louisa’s warm, empathic approach creates a safe space where clients are able to tap into their own inner wisdom and courage. She collaborates with clients to find solutions to problems many face in life: moving on from a difficult relationship; changing or establishing a career path or direction; identity issues; dealing with grief and loss; and healing from traumatic events large and small, as well as the depression and anxiety that can follow.
Having worked with survivors of domestic violence for many years, Louisa has a great deal of experience in helping people heal from trauma and PTSD. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and has found this to be a particularly successful method for alleviating the pain caused by current and past wounds.
