Louisa Winthrop LCSW

Louisa Winthrop is an experienced psychotherapist who has been helping individuals heal and move forward from a variety of life challenges for more than 25 years.  She earned her BA in Psychology from Duke University and her MSW from Boston University.

Louisa’s warm, empathic approach creates a safe space where clients are able to tap into their own inner wisdom and courage.  She collaborates with clients to find solutions to problems many face in life: moving on from a difficult relationship; changing or establishing a career path or direction; identity issues; dealing with grief and loss; and healing from traumatic events large and small, as well as the depression and anxiety that can follow.

Having worked with survivors of domestic violence for many years, Louisa has a great deal of experience in helping people heal from trauma and PTSD.  She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and has found this to be a particularly successful method for alleviating the pain caused by current and past wounds.

Louisa has additional training in:

. EMDR certified

. Hypnosis

·      Mindfulness and Meditation

·  Yoga for Anxiety and Depression, including chair yoga poses

·      Guided Imagery

·      Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or “Tapping”)
